Last week was National Volunteers'
Week and I wanted to
take this opportunity to say a
huge, heartfelt thanks to our
team of dedicated volunteers -
over 70 per cent of whom live
in Wandsworth (or just over
the border in Wimbledon) -
who help out in so many ways
throughout the Royal Hospital
for Neuro-disability (RHN).
Having seen the coverage of
the myriad of tower blocks
coming to Wandsworth, it
will be interesting to see
what happens now that
Boris Johnson is Mayor of
London.
Many of your older readers will remember the days when once a month on a Sunday morning they would be awakened from their beds by the sound of the local Boys' Brigade company marching around the streets, bugles-a-blazing before going to church.
