Legend of the stage and screen Sir Michael Gambon will discuss his illustrious career at the launch of an arts venue’s fundraising drive in Clapham.
The Harry Potter and Maigret star, 75, and Dame Eileen Atkins will talk about the highlights in their lives and works to Guardian writer Xan Brooks at Omnibus art centre’s Patrons’ Launch Night on Wednesday, March 16.
The evening will officially welcome Michael, film director Richard Eyre and artistic director of the Old Vic Matthew Warchus as patrons at Omnibus.
It also launches the venue’s campaign to raise £20,000 for Brighter Futures, a scheme to help south London locals develop a career in the arts.
Omnibus’ artistic director Marie McCarthy said: “I am delighted to have Michael Gambon, Richard Eyre and Matthew Warchus, such heavyweights of British theatre, as patrons of our fledgling organisation.
"I am also thrilled that they are lending their support to help us launch our new campaign Brighter Futures to create careers by developing local talent and the next generation of young theatre makers and producers.”
Tickets cost £50. Go to omnibus-clapham.org
