A bus crashed into the side of Putney Bridge this morning and the driver had to be rescued by fire fighters.

The bridge was initially closed following the incident, just after 10am. Traffic is reported to now be moving along the bridge but drivers should expect delays at Lower Richmond Road.

The London Ambulance Service, the London Fire Brigade and the Metropolitan Police Service were all at the scene.
The London Ambulance Service treated three patients and a spokeswoman said: "We sent an ambulance crew, a duty officer and our hazardous area response team to the scene to treat three patients; the driver and two patients for minor injuries."
The bus driver, who was trapped on the bus and assisted by the London Fire Brigade, has been taken to the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital with a chest injury.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police Service said: “A car was also involved in the collision.
"The female driver received minor injuries and was treated by LAS at the scene.
“Enquires are ongoing into the circumstances of the incident. Local road closures are in place."
The incident took place a week before the bridge is set to close as part of a £1.5m repair programme.
The bridge over the River Thames will close to all vehicles on Monday, July 14, for three months.
