A man has died after being found unresponsive on a pavement in Wimbledon this morning.
Police and paramedics were called to Durnsford Road, between the junctions with Plough Lane and Weir Road, shortly after 4.30am today after reports of a man lying on the ground.
The man, believed to be in his 30s, was found to be unresponsive and was pronounced dead at the scene at 4.59am.
A London Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "We were called at 4.42am to reports of an incident on Durnsford Road.
"We sent a responder by car and a duty station officer to the scene.
"Sadly, a man was dead at the scene."
The death is currently being treated as unexplained and no arrests have been made.
Merton police are working with the Homicide and Major Crime Command to establish the circumstances surrounding the death and enquiries are underway to trace and inform the man's next of kin.
