A Roehampton youth club supporters association party allegedly descended into chaos with revellers being threatened with a carving knife, according to a Metropolitan Police report.

A brawl involving Roehampton Youth Club Supporters Association committee members is alleged to have started in the club’s Holybourne Road bar on Boxing Day last year.

The allegations came to light this week when Sergeant Wayne Humphrey submitted an application to Wandsworth Council to review the club’s premises certificate.

According to Sgt Humphrey’s report ‘a number of’ the youth club supporters association committee members were involved in a fight in the upstairs bar that resulted in a man “falling backwards and hitting his head, causing a cut to the corner of his eye”.

The brawl is then said to have spilled out into the hallway.

When police arrived to break up the alcohol fuelled bash they were allegedly greeted by up to 20 drunk people outside the venue.

In his report Sgt Humphrey’s said: “During the phone call to the police it was alleged that someone had a carving knife and was threatening people.

“On arrival at the premises the police were greeted by approximately 15-20 people all of whom, in the reporting officer’s view, were substantially under the influence of alcohol.

“The committee members involved in the incident also appeared to be substantially under the influence of alcohol.”

The committee members involved in the fight have resigned and been replaced, according to the report.

Wandsworth council licensing committee was told on Monday that members of the club’s current committee 'have taken steps to address the conditions proposed by Sgt Humphrey'.

The licensing committed imposed eight conditions on the club and gave them a three month deadline to comply.

A council spokesman added: “Failure to meet the deadline will be viewed as a serious matter.”
