Film buffs will have to travel outside the borough to see the latest blockbusters after Empire announced it would close its Sutton cinema for refurbishment.
The St Nicholas Centre cinema, which first opened its doors 25 years ago, will close on Sunday, June 4, ahead of a multi-million-pound development.
Redevelopment works are expected to be completed in in the winter.
A spokeswoman said: “Empire is excited about their new cinema and look forward to being able to share details about this development in the coming month.”
