MET Police in Kew and Firefighters from Richmond, Heston and Chiswick were called to a fire at a care home on Priory Road in Kew on December 15.

A statement posted on social media by MET Police in Kew said: "In relation to the questions we’ve received regarding increased police presence Priory Rd last night, this was in relation to a fire at a property.

"Police attended to assist @LondonFire with road closures.

"Everyone safe and well."

According to emergency service reports - a first floor laundry room was completely destroyed by the blaze and at least ten people managed to escape from the ground floor of the building before the Brigade arrived.

The Brigade arrived at the scene at 6:07pm and were able to control the fire within half an hour.

There have been no reports of injuries and the fire is thought to be accidental.
