The M23 in Surrey near Gatwick Airport has been closed due to a multi-vehicle crash.
The traffic northbound between J9 and J8 has been closed since around 11.50am today (April 18).
An air ambulance has been called and both carriageways were shut as the incident was being dealt with.

It is unknown whether anyone was injured following the incident.
The incident has caused miles of congestion on approach and long delays in the area, according to AA.
Traffic on the southbound has since been released but northbound remains closed.
We have contacted Surrey Police and South East Coast Ambulance Service for further information.
