Boyband JLS are hoping to help Everybody in Love practise safe sex by releasing their own range of condoms.
The X-factor finalists - who include former Whitgift School choirboy JB Gill - have teamed up with Durex to launch the extra-safe condoms, which come in four packages and feature a different band member’s face on each.
All the profits from the prophylactics will be ploughed back into the band’s newly-established charitable foundation.
Mr Gill said: “We will not be making any money out of the sale of Just Love Safe.
“Every penny we make from the sale of the condom range will be put into the JLS Charitable Foundation.”
The packs each contain three condoms and will be sold across the country in convenience stores and pharmacists.
Mr Gill’s bandmate Marvin Humes said: “We came up with the idea of Just Love Safe as we wanted to send a clear message out to fans that are over 16 and sexually active - and that is to always use a condom during sex.”
JLS shot to fame after finishing as runners-up to Alexandra Burke in the fifth series of X-factor, before signing to Sony and watching their self-titled debut album go straight to number one.
Simon Blake, director of young people’s sexual health charity Brook, said: “It is brilliant that JLS, role models for millions of young men and women, have teamed up with condom giant Durex to promote responsible and safe attitudes to sexual health.
“Young people tell us time and time again that pop stars influence them.
“With levels of teenage pregnancies and sexually transmitted infections still appallingly high in the UK, Brook congratulates JLS and Durex for masterminding the Just Love Safe range.”
Martyn Ward, managing director of Durex in the UK, said: “We applaud JLS for taking the responsible step of setting up a charity which will benefit good causes in the UK.
“It is very responsible of JLS to put their name to a range of condoms – and we were delighted that they partnered with Durex to do so.”
