A 70-year-old man has appeared in court charged with murdering his severely ill wife.
Stuart Mungall, of Hendham Road, Tooting, appeared via videolink at Camberwell Green Magistrates Court shortly before 1pm.
He was charged with the murder of 69-year-old Joan Mungall on Saturday after she was found dead at the couple’s home on Friday.
Mungall - who wore glasses, a white t shirt and black jumper - spoke only to confirm his name age and address.
He spoke from an interview room in Sutton Police Station where he sat alongside his solicitor looking tired and gaunt.
District Judge Tanweer Ikram committed the case to the Old Bailey on March 14.
Mungall has 48 hours in which to decide whether to make a bail application.
Police said yesterday a post mortem examination into Mrs Mungall's death, proved inconclusive and further tests were being carried out.
