Posters issuing a Fatwa against Home Secretary Theresa May have now been spotted in Balham, it has emerged.
It was initially thought the posters were only plastered on phone boxes and bus shelters in Tooting town centre - but it appears the person or persons responsible have targeted other areas.
A Balham resident, who did not want to be named, contacted the Wandsworth Guardian this morning to report she saw the Western-style wanted posters around Balham Station.
A spokesman for Wandsworth Council said it was operating a no tolerance policy and treating the posters “as graffiti”.
He said: “As soon as we see them or they are reported they will come down.
“We urge residents if they see them go up again somewhere else to let us know and we will get rid of them.”
The posters claim the Fatwa has been issued “for the abduction, kidnapping and false imprisonment” of various radical clerics.
Mrs May is today unveiling a controversial reform of control orders for terrorism suspects in Westminster.
She was informed of the poster campaign against her by Sadiq Khan, MP for Balham and Tooting, this morning.
The Home Office declined to comment.
