Scout troops from the Esher district filled Cobham High Street for their annual St George’s Day parade.
More than 400 Beavers, Cubs and Scouts from Oxshott, Cobham, Claygate and Hinchley Wood donned their uniforms and picked up their unit’s flags on Sunday, April 27, as they marched to St Andrew’s Church.
Among those joining the parade were mayor of Elmbridge Councillor Mike Bennison, the mayoress, and Cobham councillor Maria Odone.
At St Andrew’s Church, youngsters and supporters enjoyed a short service, with members of the Cobham scout group presenting a short drama which used St George as an example of how people can support the community.
Jon Bell, leader of the 1st Cobham Scouts, said: “We would like to thank St Andrew’s Church for its support for this event, the Sacred Heart Catholic Church for allowing the use of their car park to assemble and dismiss the parade and Surrey Police for their support in managing traffic, without whom the event could not have gone ahead.”
