A budding darts superstar will soon be stepping-up to the competitive oche thanks to the Sutton Guardian.
Eight-year-old Kynan Cain, of Cheam Park Junior School, was put in touch with the Surrey Darts organisation after our article on him last month.
The organisation, which competes in the inter-counties premier league, was eager to get in touch with the future prospect and contacted the newspaper.
Kynan, who has been hitting 180 for fun in recent weeks, was invited by the organisation to watch an inter-counties battle between Surrey and Cambridgeshire at The Royal British Legion club in Worcester Park last week.
Martin Cullip, vice-chairman of Surrey Darts, was so impressed with Kynan’s exploits that he asked him to join the Surrey darts youth system.
Martin said: “I gave Kynan a copy of Darts Player 2009, and an annual darts magazine that has pictures of, and interviews with, the top players in the world.
“I introduced Kynan and his dad to one of the Surrey County Youth organisers, who explained fully about our youth system and invited Kynan to join up.”
Kynan, a darts enthusiast like father Jeff, was given the opportunity to meet former world champion Martin Adams at the match, which Surrey eventually lost 15-21.
Jeff said: “Kynan was really pleased to meet dart legend Martin 'Wolfie' Adams. Ky has been fired up since meeting Wolfie and we have to scrape him off the oche at bedtime.”
In the words of Jeff, and famous commentator Tony Green: “Game on.”
