The alleged rape and sexual assault took place at Seven Islands Pond
A 38-year-old man has been charged with raping a woman on Mitcham Common.
John Cooney, of Courtland Avenue in Norbury, is accused of raping a woman over the age of 18 at Seven Islands Pond on Monday, May 4.
The Croydon man has also been charged with sexually assaulting the woman by touching her without consent on the same day by the pond.
Appearing at Wimbledon Magistrates' Court last week, he was released on bail on the condition he does not go to Mitcham Common.
He is also forbidden from contacting two people, who cannot be named for legal reasons.
He is due to enter a plea at Kingston Crown Court on Wednesday, May 27.
