A driver strike planned for tomorrow has been called off after legal action, bus company Metrobus says, but drivers for other firms are still expected to walk off the job.
In a statement released this afternoon, the company says: "Following a successful legal challenge today Metrobus are pleased to announce that the planned strike for Friday, October 10 has been called off.
"All services will be running as normal.
"We would like to apologise for any inconvenience that our passengers may have experienced."
Hundreds of commuters faced transport misery tomorrow as bus drivers planned a second 24-hour strike.
Drivers at Metrobus, based at Croydon’s bus depot, were among those at three operators taking part in the latest strike to start at 3am on Friday.
Talks have been taking place between the three bus operators and the trade union, Unite, over the 2008 pay settlement but so far no agreement has been reached.
A spokesman for Transport for London said: “If this strike action goes ahead, we know Londoners will face a frustrating day on Friday.
“Those bus drivers and other public transport workers that have come to work will be doing their very best to keep London moving.
“We would ask for passengers’ patience in what may be a difficult journey.
“Where possible, we would advise passengers to use alternative means of transport.”
Drivers from First and Metroline are expected to continue with the strike.
