The person killed on the train line at Wimbledon station was a 65-year-old woman from Wimbledon, police announced this morning.
Mainline train services between Surrey, south-west London and Waterloo were heavily disrupted for most of yesterday after the incident was reported at 10.08am on Wednesday.
A British Transport Police (BTP) spokeswoman said the death is not being treated as suspicious and officers are working to inform the woman’s next of kin.
A file will now be prepared for the coroner in advance of an inquest, which will establish how the woman died.
She was pronounced dead at the scene and another woman was treated by paramedics for shock.
