A new witness has come forward in the case of murdered Coulsdon exchange student Meredith Kercher.

The 60-year-old man told a local Italian newspaper he saw suspects Amanda Knox and Raffaele Sollecito watching her flat and "acting suspiciously" on the night she died.

Knox, 20, and her Italian boyfriend, 24, claim they were at Sollecito's house at the time of the killing in Perugia.

Former Old Palace pupil Miss Kercher, 21, was killed in the house she shared with Knox and several others in Via della Pergola on the night of November 1.

Her throat had been slit and police said there was evidence of a violent sexual encounter.

Knox, Sollecito and third suspect Rudy Hermann Guede, 21, are being held in custody.

All three deny any involvement in her death.
