Sutton United have cancelled Jessy Reindorf's contract by mutual consent, allowing the striker to return home to France.
The 23-year-old joined United in the summer, going on to score six Vanarama Conference South goals despite missing game-time through injury.
Reindorf was also at the centre of a health scare when he collapsed at training two weeks ago, although he has since been given the all clear.
Doswell said: "Jessy and I spoke this week, he said he wanted to France and we agreed it was probably for the best.
Sutton United boss Doswell says "We won’t underestimate Trophy Bulls"
"He's been homesick, and was on the bench at Bromley behind Billy Medlock and Jamie White, and maybe he thought that was it.
"We knew he was a raw talent when we took him on, and he has shown signs that he can be a quality player, but he has also shown signs that he can be a pub player."
Meanwhile, Doswell has also allowed Kane Haysman to join Eastbourne Borough.
"I know it's a decision that fans will be disappointed with as Kane was a popular player," Doswell said.
"But in truth he had not quite been doing it for us, and he is another name off the wage bill."
