AFC Wimbledon boss Neal Ardley has admitted his side are venturing into the unknown this weekend when they travel to Notts County.

Despite having watched the Magpies, the arrival of a new manager at Meadow Lane has thrown a lot of preparation in to the waste bin.

Former Crystal Palace midfielder Jamie Fullarton took over the hot-seat two weeks ago and immediately presided over a first win in five games to lift them to 16th in the table.

However, the Dons go to the Magpies just one point off the play-offs and boasting a five-match unbeaten run, including wins at Cambridge United and Exeter City.

Ardley said: "It is difficult to know what to expect with a new manager having gone in there – the old Notts County could be devastatingly good for 30 minutes – and they would win a lot of games off that – but then they can be poor for another 30 minutes and lose a game in that period.

“They were very inconsistent in a game prior to the new manager coming in.”

He added: “He’s only had one game, but they now look a very well-organised and well-drilled team that have gone away and given a good away performance [to beat Crawley Town], so it is hard to know what to expect.

“The new manager would have looked at things that I have looked at when I have watched them play and said I need to get this better.

“It will come down to fine margins, them missing a chance if they get on top, or us missing a chance when we could have gone one up.

“It is how you deal with it emotionally during the game, and at the moment we’re in a good place.”

Ardley is hoping to welcome back Jake Reeves and George Francomb to the action after the pair missed the win over Mansfield Town last weekend.
