Here's how the Palace players rated in their 1-1 draw with Brighton at Selhurst Park.

Vicente Guaita 9

Palace’s best player. Made a number of saves which kept the scores level at the break. Could do little for the opener.

Martin Kelly 7

Performed admirably but looked like a centreback asked to do a job at right-back. Trossard got the better of him down the flank but he got the better of most of the Palace backline tonight.

Scott Dann 6

One injury too many? In for Gary Cahill and his lack of top level game time showed. Had little options infront of him with ball at feet and resorted to going  long on every occasion. Maupay had the better of him.

James Tomkins 6

Missed his mate Cahill. Maupay picked up pockets between him and Dann and caused havoc.

Jairo Riedewald 5

Did not take his chance. Out of position countless times and allowed Montaya and Mooy get on behind countless times. In his defence, Wilfried Zaha offered next to no support in tracking back. Hooked at the break.

Luka Milivojevic 6

Like most in the home strip he found the first half difficult, chasing Seagulls. Second half got on the ball more and stemmed the tide.

James McArthur 7

Backs against the wall first half he showed a few nice touching to get out of danger and joined in attack. Played at left back second half and didn’t look out of place.

Your Local Guardian:

Cheikhou Kouyate 6

Found the going tough against a classy Brighton midfield. Chased and tackled but couldn’t impose his physical game on the visitors.

Wilfried Zaha 8

Starting to feel sorry for the winger. Starved of possession and lack of attacking support, even the most hardcore Palace fan wouldn’t begrudge him a chance to play in a side that could match his creative ability. What a strike.

Jordan Ayew 7

Put out on the wing it was more a defensive effort first half. Second half as Hodgson rolled the dice with Meyer and McCarthy coming on, the Ghanaian ventured further forward and linked up well with Benteke.

Christian Benteke 7

Looked like the forward Palace paid £27million for in the second half.  Won every header and dragged players into the game. It helped Hodgson’s men seemingly discovered that he’s a man that thrives off wing men.

Max Meyer 8

The game changer. Lifted Palace with his desire to get on the ball and go forward. Could pick a pass too.

James McCarthy 7

Added bit to the midfield that looked to be lacking and the composure to retain possession.
