Roy Hodgson gave no guarantees Wilfried Zaha will be a Crystal Palace player beyond the January transfer window.

Speculation over Zaha’s future was again a topic of discussion following the Ivorian’s starring role in Palace’s 1-1 draw against Brighton on Monday night.

With rumoured suitors Chelsea keen to make a move for the Eagles favourite, his arrowed rocket in the second half will have done little to dumb down their enthusiasm in landing the man rated at £80million.

Hodgson, who’s side rose to ninth with the point at Selhurst Park, admitted the club are in no financial corner when it comes to having to sell their best assets, but was wise enough to know what transfer windows can bring.

“I don't talk about brining players in to replace the quality players we already have,” he said.

“I'm counting on Wilf, delighted to be working with him but when transfer windows come around one can never say what will happen.

“We will have to adjust with what comes our way," he said.

“I work on the basis all of the players I've got, I have, and the ones I'm talking about bringing in will make us stronger squad.

“My only solace with Wilf is he has a three- and-a-half-year contract and as far as I know the club is in no desperate need to sell him.

“We aren't just about to go bankrupt!”

January In-Comings!!

Hodgson is widely known to want to add to his squad, even more so with the apparent news that Jairo Riedewald, Palace’s third choice left-back, will be sidelined with a hip injury following an injury in training flaring up that saw his withdrawal at the break in the M23 derby.

The Palace boss voiced his disappointment in activity in the last window and issued a thinly veiled plea to the club’s hierarchy to release funds next month.

“You know what we are with the transfer market, we don't really go into transfer market. I'm trying to persuade the American owners in particular that this is something we really need to do.

“I thought we needed to do it in the summer but we didn't succeed in getting the players we thought were necessary to improve our squad then.

“Nothing has changed it's still the same positions I'm talking about and would like us to improve upon.

“I'm just hoping between us and the American owners we'll find a way to release some money because I don't think we'll find the quality we need with free transfers and loans."
