Goalkeeper Rob Tolfrey believes progress has been made at Kingstonian despite boss Tommy Williams' men tossing their Ryman Premier League play-off chances away during the run-in.
Ks made it a fourth straight defeat with a 3-1 reverse at Merstham to end the season on a sour note, having seemed set for a top five finish after claiming the Alan Turvey Trophy on April 6.
They secured only a point following that triumph when 10 from five games against teams well below them in the table, would have opened the door to the play-offs.
But Tolfrey insisted fans should concentrate on the positives when it comes to reflecting on Williams' second season at the helm.
"Everyone is going to be disappointed with the last month of the season, but I think the club is progressing," he said.
"We have played better football this season and off the field the club is moving forward. You have to take the positives.
"We have won a cup - which we have never done in my time at the club - and we have finished higher in the league than we did last season.
"Regardless of what people are saying, playing five games in 15 days - while trying to hold down a job - catches up with you in the end and it took its toll."
Meanwhile, Kingstonian Ladies can complete a perfect invincible Surrey County Women's and Girls' League Premier Division with two more wins on the road after rounding off their home campaign at the weekend.
Ks, who have already secured the league title and league cup this term, beat Abbey Rangers 1-0 at Kew and Ham Sports Association on Sunday thanks to a solitary Carolina Boltz strike.
They round off their season by heading to third-placed Chertsey Town this Sunday before visiting second-placed Egham Town a week later hoping to preserve their 100 per cent record.
