Jose Fonte insists he and his Crystal Palace team mates will not be too affected no matter what happens in the January transfer window.
A host of players are expected to leave the club once the window opens on Friday, with talented Victor Moses set to lead the exodus with a number of clubs after his signature.
With the Eagles looking unlikely to sign any replacements, Fonte admits it will be up to the players left to keep getting results.
"Everybody is talking about January," he said.
"But at the end of the day if somebody leaves the ones who stay have to do the best that we can.
"Everybody is talking about Victor Moses and some others players.
"It's a big loss if he goes but we have to deal with that and keep going."
Palace took four points from their two games over Christmas, leaving them just three points off a play-off place but Fonte is keeping his feet on the ground when it comes to the possibility of a play-off push.
"We are three points off the play-offs but this Championship is too tough, anyone can beat anyone," he said.
"We will see if in the end we can make the math and see where we are.
"We just want to keep going and get as many more points as we can."
The Portuguese defender scored his first goal of the season against Ipswich Town on Boxing Day, the second year in a row he has scored in the festive fixture following on from his double against Norwich City 12 months ago.
The Eagles have now won their last three Boxing Day fixtures and have not lost one since 2004, when Portsmouth beat them 1-0 at Selhurst Park in the Premiership.
"All the lads were talking about it and it seems Boxing Day is my day," he said.
"Once again I was fortunate to get one goal and the victory so I am very pleased and very happy.
"It's been a while since I scored and this is the first this season.
"The last one was at Swansea in March so I am very pleased to get on the scoresheet again but most important was the victory so I am happy about that."
