Brentford on-loan midfielder Toumani Diagouraga has not ruled returning to Griffin Park after being told he is free to leave Peterborough United.
The 22-year-old has been in sparkling form for the Bees since taking the drop in to League One in January having seen his spell at London Road turn sour.
The former Hereford United man, who started his career at Watford, was signed on a four-year contract by Darren Ferguson last summer having helped the Bulls to League Two in 2008 only to see them relegated a year later.
He started 19 Championship games under the former Posh chief before falling out of favour with current incumbent Jim Gannon and then being rescued by Bees boss Andy Scott during the transfer window.
And Diagouraga, who laid on Sam Wood’s goal in Saturday’s 3-3 draw with Milton Keynes and is currently living in a west London hotel, reckons he would be happy to consider making the switch to the capital permanent.
“I started 19 games in the Championship, so to have to step down to get regular football is a bit of a blow,” he said.
“All I want to do is play and I’d rather come down to League One, than be sat on the bench. I’ve really enjoyed playing and have settled in well, so things couldn’t have gone better.
“Everything was going well under Darren, but everything changed when the manager changed.
“I don’t know what will happen next year. I’ve been told I can leave. Will that mean coming to Brentord? I don’t see why not, but I’ll be keeping my options open and will see what happens in the summer.”
Diagouraga enjoyed a successful loan spell with Hereford United, where he celebrated League Two promotion with a 3-0 win at Griffin Park, but their stay in League One was short-lived.
His switch to Posh has given him a taste for Championship football has given him a thirst for more and believes Scott shares the same ambition.
“Getting promoted and celebrating on the pitch at Brentford was one of my best ever days in football. You want more of that,” he added.
“When I spoke to Andy about coming here he told me his ambitions and they are the same as mine, to get into the Championship.
“I’ve had a taste of things with Peterborough and I see myself playing at that level again. That is the aim.”
