Croydon Harrier Mark Plackett stormed to victory at the Banstead Woods Parkrun event on Saturday to round off an impressive winter campaign writes Matthew Kiernan.
The 15 year-old took the spoils over the 5km course in a time of 17.28 minutes, three seconds ahead of his nearest rival.
Dave Warren was 43rd in 23.12 while Norman Hemming (23.44) finished 20th at the Roundshaw Downs Parkrun event.
Croydon were also amongst the medals at the British Masters Indoor Championships at Lee Valley as Linda Harrison (W55 long jump) won silver and Mandy Rowley (W45 high jump) bronze.
The Harriers also had finalists in the 3000m, with M40 Andy Del Nevo clocking a new personal best of 10.05:85 to finish fourth and M50 Colin Oxlade continued his Virgin London Marathon preparations with a fourth place finish in 10.17:25.
There was also a win for James Buchanan at the Christ’s Hospital 10km trail race, who set a new course record in 33.19.
