I visited a beautiful pub in Richmond for a warming, winter meal and I could not recommend it more.
The Lass O’Richmond Hill is a stunning pub with a homely atmosphere and an incredible menu.
As it was freezing cold outside, I chose the carrot and ginger soup as a starter in the hopes of warming myself up.
And it did exactly that – the soup was hearty, warming and autumnal.
My boyfriend opted for the game terrine with piccalilli and sourdough which he thought was delicious.
Both starters came with a chunky piece of warm sourdough bread which added another layer of comfort to the dishes.
For my main course, I chose the breaded Sutton hubbard chicken schnitzel which came with a Burford Brown, caper butter and waste-not pickles.
The chicken was moist on the inside and crunchy on the outside and the egg had a perfect runny yolk – it was a scrumptious dinner.
Another amazing plate is the pheasant and venison faggots which comes with crushed celeriac, savoy cabbage, burnt pickled shallots and red wine gravy which my boyfriend chose.
It was full of flavour and a truly comforting meal in the cold weather.
For dessert, I continued the theme of going for warming, comforting foods and chose the chocolate brownie which came with salted caramel ice cream.
It was absolutely heavenly, moist and rich perfectly complemented by the sweetness of the ice cream.
My boyfriend was blown away by his dessert as well, he chose the fig and apple crumble.
He said he had never had figs in a crumble before and that it was a delightful combination.
We had glasses of delicious wine with each course which were recommended to us by the pub’s manager.
She was extremely knowledgeable about both the food and drinks menu and was very helpful and answered any questions we had.
It was a real asset to the pub to be able to chat with her and pick her brains about the tasty menu so that we could make sure we were making the right choice when we ordered.
Another stand out feature at The Lass O’Richmond Hill for me are the real, wood burning fires.
There are two separate ones within the pub, giving a cosy, homely vibe so that you can relax and unwind as you enjoy your evening.
For me, this pub is a 10/10 – what more could you want than incredible food, amazing drinks, a stunning interior and a cosy atmosphere?
