This weekend the Museum of richmond and Brentford’s Watermans Arts Centre are joinigng hundreds of venues across the capital in staging a number of free events over the next three days as of the London 2012 Open Weekend.

Watermans will be exhibiting of work-in-progress art projects that are scheduled to be part of the Cultural Olympiad that will run alongside the London Olympics. These include Cecile Trijssenaar, whose video wall installation, The Good Neighbour, explores how the ethos of the games is conveyed through stories of the people from the 204 participating nations who have made their homes in west London, and Constantine Gras, whose three year project aims to connect the rivers, canals and wetland features of west London’s waterways.

Visitors to Watermans can also take part in The Power of 8, a new collaborative project in which eight people from different walks of life work together to conduct a public discussion about their individual aspirations for the future. Free workshops will be held on Saturday and Sunday from 1pm – 4pm.

Families are also invited to take part in a special storytelling session at the Museum of Richmond today at 10.30am and 11.45am. The interactive workshop, entitled A Palace Fit for a King: the Secret Story of Richmond's Tudor Palace, will give people the chance to explore Richmond's fascinating Tudor past and the hidden history of Richmond Palace.
