Everyone insists they have a book in them, but what about a piece of artwork you can fit in a box?
My London In A Box is a project offering Kingston residents - as well as the rest of London - the chance to show what they think of their town using nothing more than a small cardboard box and whatever creative materials they can find.
Some of the boxes produced will be on display in City Hall as well as Kingston Market place at the end of November, with boxes available for collection from the council offices or branches of the Big Yellow Storage Company from tomorrow.
Dave Spinx, who played Keith Miller in Eastenders for four years, launched the scheme with his own artistic version of the Kinks' Waterloo Sunset and said: "Wherever I am in the world if I hear that song I am just transported back to London.
"The Kinks wrote some wonderful evocative songs that capture the magic of the city and I hope Londoners will take this opportunity to create their own little celebrations of London life now and in the future."
The project, the idea for which was piloted in Kingston last year, is part of Mayor Boris Johnson's Story of London Festival taking place throughout the month and he added: "I want Londoners to really fire up their imagination and re-create the magic of London in a box.
"The box might include photographs, drawings, maps, a poem or something really quirky and unique.
"Let your imagination run wild and don’t be boxed in."
