A £75,000 chest, diamond earrings worth £4,250 and a £68,500 painting are just some of the fascinating objects on show at the Esher Hall Antiques & Fine Art Fair at Sandown Park Racecourse next weekend.
More than 30 exhibitors and dealers will be showing their best pieces of furniture, carpets, rugs, sculpture, paintings, jewellery, silver, glass, porcelain, objets d’art and much more from a variety of periods.
Highlights include a 300-year-old William & Mary period chest on stand made by royal cabinetmaker Gerrit Jensen, an unusual burr yew and rosewood cabinet made in Dorking in the 1830s, a pair of Copeland vases and covers, an Edwardian rosewood sofa with exotic inlays and a pair of 19th century oils by George Masters entitled Edge of a Surrey Village.
Jewellers Plaza add some Hollywood glamour with a 50-year-old sapphire and diamond bombé ring by Oscar Heyman, who was a top jeweller to the Los Angeles celebrities.
The British Antiques Furniture Restorers Association will have a stand featuring three members of the BBC’s Restoration Road Show demonstrating intricate decorative techniques such as lacquer work, gilding, carving, painting and upholstery.
