Entente cordiale will be evident at the Polka Theatre tonight, Thursday, when Wimbledon Film Club opens its new season with the French film Hidden.
Starring Juliette Binoche and Daniel Auteuil, this taut psychological thriller won Michael Haneke the best director award at the Cannes Film Festival in 2005.
Jazz pianist Jon Spanyol will set the Gallic tone on the night, playing in the foyer before the screening. There will also be a chance to socialise and sample refreshments from France and North Africa while enjoying the music.
Following a successful first season, when Wimbledon Film Club won commendations from the British Federation of Film Societies for best new film society and best website, Wimbledon Film Club has lined up another great programme of screenings and events.
Held fortnightly, future shows include the John Mills' classic Ice Cold in Alex, Stanley Kubrick's The Shining, Korean thriller Old Boy, US urban music flick Hustle and Flow and Brazilian road movie Central Station.
