A unique glimpse into the vibrant workings of an artist's world will be on offer for the next two weekends as more than 200 artists open their studio doors to the public.
The Wandsworth Artists' Open House event will feature 85 different venues across the borough where artists such as travel award winner Isobel Peachey, Jerwood drawing prize nominee Richard White and internationally established photographer Gina Glover will be showcasing their works, which will include anything from painting and jewellery to sculpture and ceramics.
Last year’s event attracted 7,000 visitors from all over London and Wandsworth’s arts spokesman Paul Ellis said: “These weekends give us a rare and fascinating glimpse of these talented individuals at work.
"Many of the artists involved will be on hand to talk about their work and explain more about the techniques involved in their trade.
“It’s also a valuable opportunity for aspiring amateur artists to learn more about the commercial side of the art world and get advice from seasoned professionals about how to break into the industry.
“I encourage everyone to pick up a copy of the programme and support local artists."
In Tooting, Balham and Furzedown 27 artists have come together to form an art trail between their studios.
Green balloons will be outside participating studios in those areas, where at each venue you can collect a letter which will build into an anagram of the name of a famous artist.
The guesses will then go into a draw and there will be prizes of original artworks for the lucky winners.
Running alongside Open House will be the launch of nationwide event Big Draw, which will see a series of projects take place in the borough over the coming month.
Official guide maps are available from any Wandsworth library.
