A Hollywood blockbuster opening in cinemas this week features scenes shot with Brad Pitt in Croydon.
War Machine opens in UK cinemas and on Netflix on Friday (May 26).
Scenes were filmed over two days in September and October 2015 in Addington Palace.
The scenes in the Croydon mansion can be seen in the trailer. It shows Sir Ben Kingsley, playing the President of Afghanistan Hamid Karzai, with Brad Pitt, who plays American army general, Glen McMahon.
In the trailer, Pitt tells Kingsley that Nato is about to embark on a new direction to build Afghanistan into a free and prosperous nation.
The film is described as part reality, part parody with Brad Pitt depicting a born leader's "march into folly".
FilmFixer manages the film office service for Croydon Council. FilmFixer director Andrew Pavord said: "We think Croydon should be quite proud of its role in this film about the politics of war.”
A Camden pub also hosted the production, playing a Paris bar.
Addington Palace is a Grade II listed building, often used for weddings. Their website says the 18th-century mansion was chosen for filming because of its "resplendence and grandeur".
