Incredibles 2
I know it’s hard to believe but it has been 14 years since the original Disney-Pixar animated movie ‘The Incredibles’ hit the big screen way back in 2004.
That’s quite a long wait to come up with a sequel! But does the follow up live up to expectations? Well the answer is YES.
Incredibles 2 opened in the UK on Friday July 13 to rave reviews and has been welcomed by audiences and families across the nation many of who were not even born when the first film appeared. On Friday alone, the film took an astonishing £3million, making it Disney-Pixar’s second biggest opening Friday ever for an animated movie placed behind only Toy Story 3.
It also went on to take the UK box office crown this weekend with an impressive 3 day total of £9.5Million. Disney-Pixar are already rubbing their hands together with the impending start to the school holiday season.
In the US Incredibles 2 is now the highest-grossing animated film of all time in the US, having surpassed the $520m mark domestically going in to this weekend and grossing a spectacular $812M globally to date in its first five weeks.
For those of you who have never heard of the Incredibles, they are a Superhero family who all have their own Lycra outfits and as you would expect…they fight crime.
Everyone’s favourite family of superheroes is back with “Incredibles 2” - but this time Helen (voice of Holly Hunter) is in the spotlight, leaving Bob (voice of Craig T.Nelson) at home with Violet (voice of Sarah Vowell) and Dash (voice of Huck Milner) to navigate the day-to-day heroics of “normal life”.
It’s a tough transition for everyone, made tougher by the fact that the family is still unaware of baby Jack-Jacks’s emerging superpowers.
When a new villain hatched a brilliant and dangerous plot, the family and Frozone (voice of Samuel L.Jackson) must find a way to work together again which is easier said than done even when they’re all Incredible.
