Avengers: End Game (Review)
You can trust me when I say that I don’t do spoilers. However, I fear that this could end up being the shortest review I have ever done.
After watching End Game at the London screening in Leicester Square, I applauded the screen (as did everyone in the theatre) as the end credits started to roll. Which is actually a curious thing to do, seeing as how the whole audience was just clapping and whistling to a huge inanimate object.
My first thought of what to write came out as “OMG! OMG! OMG!” In fact that could have covered everything about the film with nothing else. No pretentious analysis or deep examination, just pure entertainment.
End Game picks up after the desolation witnessed by the surviving Avengers as they watch friends and loved ones turn to ashes blowing in the wind.
How could Thanos have won? That’s not supposed to happen.
Tony Stark Drifting in space
Anyone who followed the trailers will know that many of the original Avengers survived and are out for revenge and Justice. The Cap (Chris Evans), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), The Hulk (Bruce Banner), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) and War Machine (Don Cheadle).
Let’s not forget Nebula (Karen Gillan), Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Rocket Raccoon (Voice Bradley Cooper), Okoye (Danai Gurira).
Can they possibly bring back those that they have lost? Or did Thanos permanently erase 50% of the population from existence?
Once again the Russo brothers (Anthony and Joe) have put together a well crafted movie and the writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely have scripted a fabulous screenplay. They take the audience through a multitude of emotions. I think that this film has possibly the funniest moments with most of the lines coming from characters you wouldn’t expect.
New Suits
But the writers can make you cry at the next scene and there is the cleverly executed plots and action sequences as always.
Yes, the film is 3 hours long but you don’t get the time to fidget as there a lot going on and too much to marvel at (sorry for that!). You just don’t want to take your eyes off the screen for a second.
If this film doesn’t win the Best Film award at the Oscars, then there is no justice in the World “Are you not entertained!”
Captain America / Steve Rogers
We go to the cinema expecting to be entertained, to get away from reality, to be lost in strange new worlds. Our imagination is realised. We see things come alive in front of our very eyes and if we are lucky we believe everything we witness.
This is the beauty of cinema. They don’t call it the Big Screen for nothing!
Of course I’m giving it 5 Stars. This is cinema at its best.
What more can I say?
Go see it!
In cinemas from April 25
