Fans of cinema who hate the tutting that accompanies the slightest crowd noise at the big screen venues have had their prayers answered with the opening of a new, small film club in Kingston town centre.
The Ram Jam Film Club for over 18s launches at The Grey House pub this Sunday with the showing of Monty Python's Life of Brian - landlord Richard Fletcher's favourite film.
"I am going to say to people at the start of every screening to treat it like your front room," says Fletcher.
"I don't want people tutting if someone rustles a bag of crisps - let's just all enjoy each other's company.
"It's in a self-contained room with its own bar and toilets so people can walk to both during the screenings "In the big cinemas people are always moaning but I want people to get off that and enjoy the night and we can all hang around afterwards and have a drink.
"It was my wife June's idea about a year ago.
"I thought it wouldn't work at first but with her insistence we investigated the licenses and how easy it would be and decided it was worth giving it a go.
"One of the Young's brewery directors was in on Tuesday and thought it was a fantastic idea and was chuffed to see it already up and ready to go."
As well as Life of Brian, the Film Club will also be showing Shutter Island, black and white film Jour De Fete and 1976's Dazed and Confused this week - an earlier indicator of the variety of movies it wants to put on.
"We are going to show lots of different types," said Fletcher.
"There will be the weird and wonderful, black and white, new and recent releases and we hope enough people will want to come out and see them here.
"We have pulled some people in as a committee to help us with decisions as to what to show in the future otherwise it would be all my favourites.
"Next year I hope to commit four nights a week for the Film Club so people will know on certain days there will be films on.
"I'm also thinking of doing an afternoon kids show or OAP show with a free cup of tea or something like that, something a bit different."
