Sutton music fans will be spoilt for choice this week as two local venues throw entertaining bashes over the weekend to ensure all ages are catered for.

Taking care of the young guns are venerable promoters StageFrite, who are now camped at The Woodstock.

Tailoring their evenings to the late teenage/young adult market, StageFrite have lined up a bevy of hard-hitting bands to blast the night away.

Leading the charge will be S.O.U.N.D. (Some Of Us Never Die), backed up by Day After Tomorrow, Fresh Addiction, Change Persona and People of the Sun.

S.O.U.N.D are an Epsom-based five piece and will be using the gig as a warm-up for their appearance at Guilfest, where they will be performing alongside, among others, Motorhead.

Describing their sound as ‘melodic with soaring choruses, pretty solos and cleverly contrived teen lyrics’, they are bound to get the place jumping.

For a more laid-back vibe, punters are advised to stroll to The Drill in Worcester Park, where they will be treated to a performance by Station House.

Formed by Sam Kelly, the band started out as a house band at the Station Tavern in W10 back in the 90s, leading to a long-term residency that saw the group adopt the venue as its moniker.

All the band members come from non-blues backgrounds, so the unique blues sound that they have created is a fusion of their influences such as British funk, soul, jazz, calypso and reggae.

The result is a mix far from the norm, but still with its roots firmly based in the blues.

Joining Sam in the line-up are Spy (bass), Paul Jobson (keyboards), Tony Quntar (guitar) and Jerome Marcus (percussion).
