Sutton band The Blow Ups will be one of four acts performing live at The Brief this Saturday.
Playing an infectious brand of spiky punk rocks tunes with a pop twist, the foursome have become firm favourites on the Sutton and Epsom gig scene and have a truly international flavour to them with members having lived in such far-flung places as Turkey, Germany and Egypt.
Lead singer and guitarist Kelly Bateman, who has lived all her life in Epsom, said: "We have played a couple of festivals in Turkey and will hopefully be going back.
"The fans really loved us there - we got loads of messages on our MySpace page.
“I grew up listening to my sister’s old school punk records and as a band we are influenced by many styles and artists, from Elvis and more classic rock ‘n’ roll through to 70s punk bands like the Clash, metal bands like Metallica and even poppier bands such as Blink 182, Paramore and Lostprophets.
“We’re set apart from the rest because we are influenced by such a wide range.
"We channel all that’s cool about the band into one mesmeric focal-point.”
Other bands playing on Saturday night include Dancing Bears, Alex Riding and G Minor.
