If you're a new artist struggling to make a name for yourself in the music world then get to the Jury's Inn hotel in Wellesley Road this Saturday for the first ever Cr0 Music Conference.
Top names from the music business will be there to offer advice to artists of every genre and then in the evening there will be two free gigs to go and network at.
"The whole focus of the event is to try and improve the knowledge of people trying to get into the music industry," says Croydon Music director and founder Trevor Fisher.
"There's millions and millions of talented artists out there trying to get through but there's not a lot of knowledge about how to.
"It's open to every genre of music, we are covering the whole spectrum from opera all the way down."
Topics being covered include the real music industry, licensing, songwriting & publishing, booking gigs, digital music & promotions, the Musicians Union and music video production as well as Rick Markee from Frantic Promotions talking about how to get your band a slot at festivals.
In the evening, Croydon band KB Fusionnaires will be hosting at acoustic night at CMS House in London Road from 7pm that will include jazz, folk, gospel and poetry.
At Bodega in South Croydon there will be something a little more robust hosted by Kimberly Anne and featuring acts playing rock, punk, R&B and Hip Hop.
Croydon Music has been behind other networking nights in the borough before, like Croydon Live at Braithwaite Hall, and Trevor is hopeful the conference will be the start of something big.
"This is the start of larger things we want to get involved in at Croydon Music," he said.
"We want Croydon to be a creative centre and we are hoping this event will grow and become a major music event for the whole music industry."
