You might look at this picture of Rory Eliot and think there's something wrong and you would be right - he's playing the guitar backward.

More than a decade ago as a mere teenager the South African decided to be different and play the rhythm guitar in a rather unique way, and, 1000 gigs later, he has more than justified that decision.

Eliot is the frontman for one of South Africa’s most celebrated bands, Plush, who will be playing at Puntey's Halfmoon on Saturday and giving away copies of their new album.

Formed with lead guitarist Chas Smit, the band registered numerous hits in their home country before Smit was tragically killed in 2005.

After taking six months, Eliot returned with fellow band members Emelio Gassibe, Ben Peters and Carl Wegelin, determined to fulfil the promise he and Smit had made that they would make it big.

This will be the band's third UK tour having first stepped foot on these shores two years ago, playing nine sell-out shows in 10 days across the capital.

Their new, much anticipated, album will be their fourth offering and follow up to 2007's Rage On.
