The highly respected concert pianist Valerie Tryon is back in Britain this September and will be performing for audiences at Croydon's Fairfield Halls.
Tryon's career as a concert pianist began before she was 12 years old and she was one of the youngest students ever to be admitted to the Royal Academy of Music, going on to receive the RAM's highest award in piano playing.
Since then Tryon has played in most of the major concert halls and with many of the leading conductors and orchestras in Britain, including the London Symphony Orchestra and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
Her repertoire spans a range from Bach to more contemporary composers and includes more than sixty concertos and a significant amount of chamber music. Tryon has earned herself a reputation for effortlessness and understatement whilst still creating powerful and passionate performances.
Her performances and recordings have won her international praise and British composers John McCabe CBE and the late Alun Hoddinott CBE have both dedicated works to her.
Now living in Canada, Tryon spends at least part of every year in her native Britain.
