Aspiring violinists will have the opportunity to take part in a masterclass with the internat- ional virtuoso Nicola Benedetti, this December, thanks to the Elmbridge Music Club (EMC).
The club was left a violin, valued at about £3,000, to be given to a worthy recipient.
To select a winner, EMC is asking anyone interested to write to them explaining why they deserve to win the violin.
This letter must be accompanied by a detailed recommendation from a music teacher or another qualified referee and should arrive by October 25.
A masterclass for up to 10 of the most promising applicants will be held at Riverhouse, in Walton on Thames, with Benedetti on December 15 and a winner will be selected from these entrants.
The violin will be presented on April 10, 2010, at EMC’s final concert of the season to be given by Nicola Benedetti and pianist Alison Rhind.
