Few people know Status Quo legend John 'Rhino' Edwards has his own little side project, and it's a right family affair too.

The bass guitarist formed Woodedz with his sons Max and Freddie some time ago now and the threesome will be playing their brand of rock at the Halfmoon on Friday week.

Full of original songs, the Quo member even gets to do some singing which you rarely see when he's gigging with the Rocking All Over the World group.

The Brentford fan even has a song in his repertoire dedicated to Lloyd Owusu, written when the striker returned to the club for the 2006 season.

Edwards has been at the top of music business since first entering the top ten as the bassist for French group Space in 1977 top ten hit Magic Fly.

He went on to join Judie Tzuke's backing band, where he got the nickname Rhino for being so clumsy, before being approached by Rick Parfitt to replace founding member Alan Lancaster in the Quo.

The family affair will by supported by Paris-based quartet Carousel Vertigo.

The Frenchmen combine the gritty blues with thumping rhythms and rootsy vocals, firmly planting themselves into the modern era.

Woodedz supported by Carousel Vertigo, Halfmoon, Lower Richmond Road, September 25, 8.30pm, £12 (£10 adv). Call 020 8780 9383 or visit halfmoon.co.uk.
