If the age old saying of like father like son can be trusted, then The Rocket Dolls could be in for a very long and very successful career.
The post-grunge-metal-riff outfit include among their ranks a drummer by the name of Ben Knopfler - son to no other than the one and only former Dire Straits guitarist Mark Knopfler.
They have a bit of a way to go if they have any hope of matching his £120m album sales as part of the super group and solo though, having only just released their first EP.
The three piece, who include vocalist and lead guitarist Nikki Smash and bass player Steve Golder, formed two years ago in Brighton having been trained as musicians at various colleges around the country, They site their main influences when growing up as rock, grunge and metal and name bands such as The Exies, Deftones, Motley Crue, Silverchair, Bush and Nirvana, though oddly not Dire Straits.
Since playing their first gig at The Railway Inn in Winchester they have toured all over the south of England as well as London venues The Water Rats and The Hope and Anchor.
Their debut record, the Frame EP, came out last year and was mastered by Ace from Skunk Anansie.
With it they have already supported bands such as Million Dollar Reload and The Luchagors and are hoping to stir some serious interest within the music industry to set them up for world domination - much in the style of daddy Knopfler.
