American Kacey Cubero has taken the plunge and crossed the pond to undertake her first ever UK tour, writes Kate Suttle.
The rock and country singer is promoting her latest release, Fill Your Cup, which she wrote and produced herself, at The Half Moon on Wednesday with her guitarist Josh Davis.
Cubero relocated from Washington DC to California after studying and has spent years singing, writing music and touring.
Her distinctive style of Americana music combines elements of roots, rock and country with a slight soulful edge that sees her records range from rocking anthems to folksy and bluesy ballads.
Likened to Shelby Lynne and Lucinda Williams, Cubero has collaborated with many artists including Jackson Browne.
She has twice been named Singer Magazine's indie artist of the year, was the Santa Barbara Blues society artist of the year in 2006 and last year won the MAVRIC Independent Music Award.
Also on the bill that night will be Canadian Matt Anderson.
His blues, roots and rock musical hybrid combined with a soulful voice has won him a heap of admires on Canada's East Coast.
In the past few years, he has released an introductory EP along with two critically-acclaimed live studio releases winning him two East Coast Music awards - male solo artist of the year and blues recording of the year.
Matt Andersen and Kacey Cubero, The Half Moon, Lower Richmond Road, Putney, October 6, 8pm, £7. Call 020 8780 9383 or visit halfmoon.co.uk.
