Take a slice of pop, add some folk, a little touch of angst and a drop of emotion and you get the line-up for Monday's live music night at The Bedford.

Scarlett's Roses, Neil Nayar, Fellow Stranger and Trevor John are the acts that will be providing the special mix.

Scarlett's Roses are three vocalists and multi-instrumentalists who will get you up and dancing with their mix of charming and charismatic tunes and stories that you will have falling out with Jack and finding there is something about Maggie.

"Essentially we are a pop band," says Daniel Attwell.

"But we show elements of ska, hip hop and surf - the kind of music that we hope everyone will enjoy like your mum's mum's mum, and so on.

"We want to take people on a journey, so they feel they are the person in the song."

Singer-songwriter Nayar brings the folk element to the evening with his soft voice and delicate guitar playing.

He released his debut album Pencil Songs in June and has been using his skills to teach others how to play the guitar and even sometimes the piano.

Fellow Stranger is the latest musical moniker for the work of Brighton songwriter Luke Sital-Singh.

After 10 years of writing and performing under his own name, Sital-Singh decided on a fresh form to deliver his music, resulting in Fellow Stranger.

"As pretentious as this sounds I enjoy playing around with language," he says.

"I'm no poet but I enjoy the paradoxes and contradictions that you can find in language.

"Not just in language actually - in music too.

"I love the effect you create when you write some happy lyrics and make the music really dark, Fellow Stranger is kind of like that."

Completing the bill is John, a London-based singer and guitarist who specialises in gentle passionate songs.
