The Lord Nelson on London Road is preparing to host a series of music nights to entertain the people of Sutton.

The pub, which is owned and operated by Stonegate Pub Company, is steering away from regular solo singers, to an eclectic mix of genres, bands, DJs and tribute acts which will be gracing their stage.

Saturday July 23 sees popular local band Shooter appearing at the pub. They are a high energy electric outfit that will “blow you away”. From 8.30pm until 11.30pm, the band will be playing rock tunes from throughout the ages, covering everything from the classics to the more modern hits.

Saturday August 6 sees an entirely different branch of music, but with no less appeal. Customers to the Lord Nelson will be entertained by one of the UK’s most tribute acts to one of the world’s most famous pop bands, Abba. From 8.30pm guests can sing along to Mamma Mia and dance away to Dancing Queen, as they are taken back in time to the 70s and 80s.

Manager, James Oakley’s final instalment to melange of music on the August 13 will be local DJ, Shane Gibbs. “This is the act I’m most excited about,” said James. “We’ve had Shane in before and he really gets the night going! The music he mixes is great and he puts on a really professional show.” Shane will be spinning the decks with all your favourite tunes from 8.30pm.

“We’ve had live music at the bar for some time now,” continued James, “but it’s always been solo artists. So the team and I at the Lord Nelson decided to spruce it up a bit by introducing lots of different acts, from lots of different genres and all with a different style. We’re bringing in karaoke nights as well from Thursday 28th August – just to make sure our customers have the chance to shine.

“We want to make sure the Lord Nelson is exactly what a pub should be within a community. Somewhere for customers to come, relax and have a good time, whether it’s for a quite drink with friends, a meal with the family or to dance the night away. We’re proud to serve our customers and hope that our music entertainment will really add to the enjoyment had by all on a Saturday night.”
