With Ha Ha Hitler having successfully kicked off Warehouse Theatre's new season earlier this month, we take a lot at what else is coming up at the independent venue for the rest of 2009.
The Meeting
October 16 to November 1
Paul Morris directs Jeff Stetson's play sat in 1960s Black America where everyone had a common goal, to end poverty and racism.
Two passionate voices spoke and spurred the black people of America on to achieve their aims but with conflicting ideologies.
Malcolm X offered immediate, active, provocative change using violence if necessary while Martin Luther King preached for non-violent demonstration for long-term peace.
The play is designed to raise the question of whether role models like Malcolm X and Martin Luther King are still relevant to today's society today following the election of the first black President of the United States - the world’s most powerful man.
For Black History Month every night is a Nubian Night, with a series of bonus performances including live jazz and blues music and a spoken word night.
The Joy of Politics - World Premiere
November 4 to 22
The creative team behind Professor Bumm’s Story Machine, The Joy of Wine and I, Lear return with their new show, directed by Cal McCrystal.
The Black Sheep will be putting on an evening of lies, damn lies and silly Whigs in an irreverent romp through the corridors of power and the cul-de-sacs of Quango.
Aladdin
November 25 to 28
Another panto for young children from the age of three and over who will be transported to the magical city of Peking to meet Aladdin and all his friends, boo the evil Abanazar and roar with laughter at the antics of Wishee Washee and Widow Twankey.
Dick Barton: Quantum of Porridge - World Premiere
December 11 to February 21
Croydon's favourite special agent returns in a new adventure specially commissioned from the same team that produced last year’s record-breaking hit, The Devil Wears Tweed. This time Barton will need your help to get back to modern day after becoming trapped in the past. Help him solve the riddle of the Queen’s vibrating orb and sceptre, discover who Doctor Sweinhunt is and fight Britannia’s foggy foes in not one but two time zones.
