There a lot of theatre companies in the UK that owe Battersea Arts Centre a great deal of thanks and the award-winning Inspector Sands owe more than most.
Four years ago, Ben Lewis, Giulia Innocenti and Lucinka Eisler formed the company and began working with BAC on their first show, Hysteria, taking it from a 10 minute long scratch performance into a full-scale show that toured as far afield as China.
They are now back with their second show, If That's All There Is, which won the Edinburgh International Fringe Festival Prize last year and was again developed with the support of BAC.
"They are huge backers of ours and absolutely crucial," says Lucinka.
"I don't think we could exist as we do without their help.
"They supported the development of our first show then also got involved in this show and it is brilliant to come back there again."
If That's All There Is is very much based around the Peggy Lee song of the same name and sees a couple go into meltdown as they approach what is supposed to be the happiest day of their lives, their wedding.
"They both slightly lose it in the lead up to their wedding and veer off in different directions," explains Lucinka.
"She starts to do a whole series of different things to get herself excited about life whereas for him it's all going exactly as it should if only she was behaving as she should do.
"It's based on the Peggy Lee song which is all about our enormous expectations of life and how hard we try to be happy and feel fulfilled.
"It's got quite dark undertones to it but it's very comic."
The Fringe Festival Prize gives Inspector Sands a commission to write a new piece for the main international festival next year.
"The prize was for last year's show and also recognised the companies development," says Lucinka.
"It gives us a commission to start a new piece which will be aired in the international festival as a work in progress.
"We have started work on it already but it is early doors - I can tell you though it will be somehow linked to World War Two."
