BERYL MARJORIE HOWARD July 9th 1924-March 11th 2016 Beryl passed away on March 11th at Cecil Court Nursing Home where she had resided since 2013. She is survived by her Sister Pamela (Michael) her Niece Alexandra (Brian) and her Nephew Steven (Xavier). Beryl was born on July 9th 1924, in Fulham, London, the oldest of three siblings. She was educated at Fulham County Grammar School, and went with the school when it was evacuated to Banbury during the war. Immediately after the war Beryl spent some time in Bombay, (as it was then), India as a Red Cross nurse. On her return to England, she worked for a few years as a secretary and then retrained as a Probation Officer, in which capacity she worked in the Inner London Area until her retirement. One highlight of her career was when she attended one of the Queen's Garden Parties as a representative of her profession. She loved to travel and enjoyed many holidays in France, Spain and Italy, as well as exploring the U.K., and paying many visits to her Sister and family in British Columbia Canada. After her retirement she bought a caravan down in Camber Sands, and loved to spend weekends there pottering about on beaches, or exploring antique markets looking for a good bargain. Beryl was a life long learner. As an adult she loved evening classes, and at various time studied classical guitar, yoga, Spanish and French, History, and water colour painting. She was an avid reader, enjoyed live theatre, loved cryptic crosswords and was always up for a game of Scrabble. She also loved a good political argument, standing her ground very effectively!
