Do not let the rather flattering score-line mislead you.
The Police dominated the majority of the match and for the third succesive league game played by the Blues the man of the match award went to the opposition goal keeper!
The Blues were caught on the hop inside the opening 3 minutes with a disputed free kick 30 yards outside their area.
Darren Smith the Chatham skipper struck it with venom and Blues goal keeper Will Packham managed to get his hands to it but the sheer force directed it onto the cross bar and into the net.
After that it was all one way traffic towards the Chatham goal.
Simon Huckle's 20-yard drive was well saved by John Whitehouse in the home side goal.
A James Evans cross was firmly headed by Rob Haworth only to be plucked out of the air by Whitehouse.
Tony Finn then picked up a long cross and drove the wrong side of the near post.
The roles were then reversed as Finn sent over a cross and Evans headed over the bar from 10 yards out.
The only other effort from the visitors came late in the first half involved striker Darren Smith who missed the target from 16 yards out.
The second half found no respite as the Blues with a slight down hill advantage strode forward for a deserved equaliser.
Finn had a shot just over the bar. Kevin Cooper saw his eight-yard volley blocked by a defender on the line.
Jim Cooper the Blues Manager brought on Michael Parma up front late in the game.
With almost his first touch Parma picked up a cross and from only eight yards out drove the ball straight into the welcome hands of Whitehouse.
Alas with the game entering stoppage time the Blues were caught on the hop with a rare Chatham counter attack.
A low cross from the right found Chathams Rob Denness put his foot between two Blues defenders and snatch the second goal from only two yards out.
Minutes later just when you thought it could not get any worse Simon Huckle was adjudged to have pulled back a Chatham player inside the area. Smith with the spot kick made no mistake to bring up the very flattering score-line.
The Police meanwhile have still only won one league game this season. Their luck must change soon.
